  • The adult belt ranks are white, blue, purple, brown, and black. Each belt below black can earn up to four stripes(Gi). Black belts earn degrees based on time. The average time to earn a BJJ black belt is about 10 years. Each belt promotion usually takes 1-3 years. Some people earn belts much faster, and some take much longer. we encourage all of our students to remain mindful that everyone who starts jiu-jitsu does so for a diferent reason and with different goals in mind, belts are merely a milestone achievement and while we love to celebrate promotions,we want the focus put on hitting and surpassing each student’s goals rather than just focusing on the short term of the next belt rank.
